Gonna be an exciting new few weeks.

To say this last week and a half has been hectic is an understatement. I stopped in and talked with the landlord, and was told I could move into the new condo in May! She suggested May 1st; but I asked to push it back a bit due to visitation and funeral arrangements, and then I have a night meeting tonight that throws things for a loop.

I hurried to get a moving crew lined up to move my big stuff. I’ve started gathering boxes, and have started to pack some. Mostly, I’ve ordered some new stuff for the new place. An entry way table, shower curtains and bath accessories, a new bookshelf/hutch for my office, and some patio furniture.

I get the keys May 5th so I have a weekend to get the new place cleaned and all my little stuff moved. Then the movers come the 13th.

I’m excited to get the small things done over that weekend. I have a vendor event for Saturday the 14th; that’ll be 10-4; so that puts a damper in getting some things situated.

I have a night meeting tonight; so I spent this morning getting the utilities transferred, cancelled and started for the new condo.

I’m excited to be able to pack up and move things one car load at a time; and get them situated there, that’s not in such a hurry. Kitchen, bathroom, clothes, Scentsy stuff… I might ask my Mom if I can get her Equinox for a few days over the weekend; but we’ll see as the time comes.  I’m getting excited about it!

My apartment looks like a disaster right now between new stuff, and boxes…

Can’t wait to show you pictures of the new place.

Grandpa Gib

Last night about 9:30 I was almost asleep; and my phone rang. It was my Step Mom, Deb. 1, she hardly ever calls.2, when she calls it’s generally not good news. My Dad just cannot relay serious / sad news.

My Grandpa Gib had this nagging cough and had been to the doctor, had some antibiotics and a neutralizer. He was at my Mom’s restaurant last night and had dinner, about 8:30 called my Uncle Mike to say he couldn’t stop coughing, and Mike suggested maybe they go to the hospital so he headed over. We had been asking Grandpa to lock the door; well he did that, so Mike told Grandpa he had to go back and get a key (he lives a few miles away and had a different vehicle!) so he called the ambulance and went to get a key. The cop met him there and they found the chain was pulled. They had to kick in the door and get to grandpa and he was unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital; I got there shortly after and saw him off to the ICU from the ER. It was very grim. He had an external defibrillator and still hadn’t regained consciousness. I stuck around til sometime in the wee hours of the morning. I tried to get a few hours of sleep then got up went in to work to basically just talk with the boss and leave.

As I got  to the hospital; they checked his heart and one valve was working okay, the other not very well at all. They had cooled him down a lot last night and first EEG showed no brain activity; but they had to warm him back up to test again. The charge nurse came in once to tell us his blood pressure bottomed out one and we weren’t sure he’d make it through; he did through that bought. Later on, they did a few more tests to further prove brain death; he failed them all, there was one more that needed to be done to be medically/legally declared brain dead but as a family it was decided to withdraw support and let nature take his course. We knew his kidneys and liver were failing, his heart was really struggling.

Grandpa Gib passed very peacefully surrounded by all of the family (except my cousin Ashley who is in Florida on vacation, but she would have been here if she could have been).  I posted on Facebook that I’m certain Heaven got a lot louder and West Liberty, a lot quieter. Grandpa was a very proud Bohemian! You heard him before you saw him. He is very well-known and loved around town.

This picture is SO very Grandpa. He loved sitting in the garage at the farm watching people drive by (even though there was very little traffic) and having a beer or three. This picture was last Summer, we were celebrating Grandpa’s 88th birthday, and Aunt JoAnne’s 80th!

Thank you, it goes a long ways!

The month of March has been crazy chaotic.

We got the “okay” for fiscal year-end buying on March 2nd; that night I came home and attempted to sleep, but that didn’t happen. I drove through the night, and had a fairly sleepless weekend. Came back to work and my boss and I had a bad virus on our computer it took a few days to get back up and running. I put in quite a few hours the next few weeks.  A lot of stress, not much sleep. Long days in the office, really crappy eating.

Shawn came home the 24th; so we spent a lot of time together this last week and a half. I got a new big monitor for my computer at work mid-week, and upon them installing it, my hard drive crashed; my boss and I just laughed because this is the month we had been having!  Of course it set me back again.

I left my office Friday knowing that the last 7 months of doing two jobs, when really it’s been to the point where maybe we could have added someone part-time! It was kind of like the weight of the world was lifted. I knew that the training of the new employee was coming; she starts Monday, but the extra body is a big deal!

Friday; Adam was coming down and we were headed to Jeremy and Krystal’s to cook out for Krystal’s birthday. No one has met Adam in the nearly 6 months we’ve been hanging out. While waiting for Adam, I grabbed my mail and found a card from my main boss, Lela; this was the inside:

Lela is my main boss (upper left); Jackie is our boss that oversees the financial and medical equipment of the jobs and then Jody is the “big boss” who oversees operations as a whole.  I totally lost my shit and cried some big happy tears. It was very nice. They have all said a lot of thank yous along the way and it feels very nice to feel appreciated; but this, solidifies that I am a true asset to the office.

It was nice of some of my friends to get to meet Adam; of course they loved him; and approved.

The weekend was nice, as usual, too short. I’m a little anxious about training a new employee, but excited that I will have some help, coverage, and back up. The next few months are going to be very testing of me. I’m going to be moving in June or July; and all this, but everything is headed in the right direction, and currently that direction is BED!
