Last weekend I worked a Sunday meeting; and everything about it was a mess. I am not allowed to work more than 40 hours a week anymore; due to some law with overtime and such. I had a Tuesday night meeting, so I planned on coming in at noon Tuesday and Wednesday; and would still be a bit over 40 hours, but bascially I just wouldn’t get paid for the 3 hours over. Instead. Monday afternoon I got an email that someone wasn’t going to be in and I had to be in at 10 to do a meeting. UGH! My week was just a mess.
Wednesday my back became bothersome; it was getting tough to stand up straight right away; Thursday I had to stop and catch my breath when I would stand up and Friday… it was horrible. I had made a chiro appointment and he said it was messed up.
Friday night was basically hell at home; about 2 I woke up to constant spasms and took forever to get out of bed and out of my recliner I called my Mom and had her come up and take me to the ER. I don’t know what time we got home, but I was doped up on Dilauded, and a muscle relaxer and was able to walk in fairly easy, and crawl in bed. Getting out of bed was another story. I had to struggle to get up and get dressed (people… when can’t bend over, getting dressed is the worst!) I finally got my prescriptions filled and was back home and going to pass out. I’ve been up for maybe 10 hours int he last 3 days.
I was terrified to get a hold of my boss to see if I could take a sick day; she finally said yes, but I’m sure I’ve disappointed her. It just seem she’s far from sympathetic. Which explains why in my 8 1/2 years of working there I still have over 800 hours of sick.
I’m not really sure how tomorrow will go, but I have to just suck it up and go and work.
This has just not been my month; at all. I couldn’t be more ready for October to get here; because I love hoodie season and I’m ready for a new month.
Lots of new things coming for Scentsy that I am excited about. I’m ready to be feeling well enough to dive into Fall.
If you follow me on Instagram you might see my pics of my planner and the stickers I use. I thought I’d just share some of my favorites and how I use them.
I use the Erin Condren Life Planner. I’ve used it for 5 years now. Referral Link to save $10 off your first order When I first started using them; they only came in Vertical layout. in 2016 they came out with Horizontal layout, and hourly Vertical layout. Horizontal is just not for me. I’ve grown very used to my #ECLP At first the covers were not interchangeable, but now they are. Right now they are having a buy one get one free covers; so if you are looking into buy; now is a great time. Here are a few pictures of my 2016 Planner and the cover of my new 2017 Planner – that I got FREE because I had placed 10 orders and got a $50 off coupon!
The covers, and coils are very sturdy. My planner is thrown in my bag every day and I’ll be the first to admit, I am not so great on them. They truly take a beating, and hold up.
They are a little pricey (see the referral link above to save $10) but I was buying 3 or 4 $10 planners throughout the year, so it seemed to be worth it at first, and now it’s all I will use.
Let’s talk planners stickers and washi. Once I was first introduced to washi, I’ve gone a bit crazy… My friend Karan sent me a message one day a while back letting me know it was 60% off at Michael’s. Between the two of us we bought more than we needed and for each other to mail to each other… I’ve realized after I have way too much; that I don’t really like to use it in my planner.
I had bought some stickers here and there at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and Jo-Ann’s. I found they weren’t just what I needed. I went to Etsy; it’s pretty much the planner sticker mecca!
Here are a few of my favorite shops to buy planner stickers from; in no particular order.
Abundance of Erica I love love love her mini flag stickers. She’s even gone above and beyond and made some custom ones for me; including a house one, that I use for rent, a WordPress W to plan blogs, the butterfly used on Scentsy so I can make note of Scentsy things. I have an Etsy one, Target one, Amazon -let’s get real here, I use a lot of the Amazon ones! She is in Canada; so it does take a little longer shipping wise, but I promise you; it’s worth it.
The Plangineer Caitlyn’s store is the first one that made me fall in love with planner stickers. She has amazingly cute, practical sticker sets. She has made me a few custom stickers so I can keep track of Scentsy Deliveries and Scentsy Mileage. One time we had a shipping situation; and she has more than made up for it. She’s great with communication! I think it’s pretty obvious I love her stuff.
Planning Inspired This was my first order, and will not be my last. I was very picky about the color; I seriously sent her a link to a paint swatch color (which she wrote a sweet note about loving this color). When it shipped; it didn’t look like it was moving; this was not her fault; I was just antsy customer wanting my stickers. She got back to me LIGHTENING fast, and even emailed me to let me know it finally got scanned by USPS and was indeed moving. I hadn’t even had them for 5 minutes, snapped a picture and tagged her on Instagram ( and she commented saying she was glad they showed up) before I even had a chance to email her. I cannot wait to order more.
Shooting Star Stickers Also a new shop for me. Similar to the mini flags from Abundance of Erica; the corner flags from SSS are awesome. This entire order was custom designs; I made them for my PWS (meaning personal web site) so I can track my payment. And then WSOTM (Warmer / Scent of the Month) so I can keep track of them. I wish I took a picture of the way they were presented in the the mailing envelope; it was like I was getting a present!
There are so many more sticker shops out there; some you can print yourself – I do not have the tools to do so, and it’s really cost effective to order what you want made for you (or that the shop already has ready to mail).
These are my opinions, and I was not asked to do these reviews. I did it on my own free will. I did pay for all of these items.
If you have any questions about the Erin Condren Planer; or the shops I listed, reach out! Or go buy!! I do have other Erin Condren items; the address book, a notebook, a bunch of the accessories. Most of the planner stickers you can find on Etsy are not just for the Life Planner!
I go through spurts where I think I should just cancel my cable, but I have a pretty sweet cable + internet package through a local provider, South Slope. I sometimes think if I switched back to Mediacon; that I could get a better deal for the time being… but I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle.
Then I open up my DVR and set it to record shows.
What would I do without Ellen? The one show that’s not on NetFlix or Hulu, or available to watch online later. I mean, I kinda miss it when she’s off in the summer.
I record endless shows on the Food Network and Cooking Channel. Teen Moms, and Teen Mom OG; because doesn’t every mid-thirties chick watch that?!
And then TLC… let’s get real here people, Escaping Polygamy, Sister Wives, Counting On [the 19 Kids and Counting spin off]
Last night was the season finale of Escaping Polygamy. Something about the show just is really interesting to me. I’ve read a few books on it all, but it’s much like the Amish culture and the Hutterite communities. The simplest way to explain it is; I don’t really care about their religious beliefs other than dating / marrying a 12 year old isn’t exactly right; and even more so when they are your cousin. Incest is not the way to go. However, the Brown family – their polygamy works for them. I like how they are proud of it, but it doesn’t appear to be marrying young and within your own family. In one’s eyes multiple wives might not be right, but there is no doubt the kids are loved and are taught to be good kids. I don’t know too much, and definitely not a lot to judge, but there’s a reason Warren Jeffs is in prison for his life + 17 years.
I always watch the Boston Med, NY Med, Boston EMS during the summer where they do like 4-8 shows in a mini docu-series documenting the day-to-day of a big metropolis and their medical fields.
I DVR both Kimmel and Fallon; while I rarely watch the whole thing I do like their monologues.
Then there’s Grey’s Anatomy, I was hooked from the get go. I loved Parenthood and cried multiple times watching the finale. I loved Private Practice, and even Ugly Betty. I’m going to watch This Is Us on NBC; and I watch The Voice, although I liked it a bit more in the beginning, but I’ll still watch it.
You see, I don’t watch a lot of TV, then I binge watch all the DVR stuff on a lazy weekend.
When I think about the cost of the bill, then I’m like but wait, I can stay home the entire weekend and watch TV and spend a lot less at home in those few days of laziness than I would in one night at a bar.
And this concludes the blog where I thought I’d convince myself I could get rid of cable, but failed miserable.
Reflecting on 9 years of seizure freedom. It hasn’t been easy. Many people think it’s easy, but each day I wake up and celebrate another day in the streak of seizure freedom, but each day I worry as well. Are these 7 pills going to keep them at bay? Is this headache something more? I feel like I got only a few hours of sleep last night, will today be the day the lack of sleep triggers a seizure?
I have changed a lot, while most don’t realize. I can’t go to haunted houses; because I have yet to find one that will turn off their strobe lights for one pass. When cops or ambulances pass me on the road I just watch the white line, and try not to look up. I take baths with very little water for fear of seizing and drowning. I rarely go anywhere too far without at least one person knowing. I sleep away from end tables, my bed is actually a bookcase headboard so I don’t seize and fall into it.
Life happens, so I just roll with it.
Some days are better than others.
Today I’ve laid low in the world, but I’ve gotten laundry done, one section of the closet reorganized because it was a mess. Tonight I’ll work on stuff in my office and hopefully get to sleep at a decent time.
I feel like I’m finally on the mend. This week was just rough. I had to run to West Liberty yesterday after work to drop off some Scentsy; and I traded my Mom vehicles. I have patio furniture that for some reason FedEx couldn’t get in my building to leave at my door, so I have to run up to Cedar Rapids and grab it. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get it in my car.
Big things happened yesterday though; I was planning on hosting a Perfectly Posh party party with a friend from growing up; but then they had a deal to join for $50. While Scentsy is my focus, it’ll be nice to share this with my friends and family. So if you’d like to shop around Shop Perfectly Posh. A few of my favorite things include the Snarky bars and Moisturize 911. I haven’t tried everything yet, but I plan on doing so!
I was a huge fan of Lush; and the King Of Skin was one of my favorite items; the price was breaking the bank and it didn’t last very long. I tried the Snarky Bar – and while it’s not soft going on, it still makes your skin feel amazing.
I need to get up to Cedar Rapids to grab that patio furniture. My sink is full of dishes and I have laundry that needs done. My closet in my bedroom needs some organizing…
I went in to work today, but lasted only until 10. I just couldn’t handle it. Kidney infection is nothing to mess around with. I came home, took some Tylenol, and crawled into bed. I woke up at 2:20 to really loud thunder. The radar looked pretty gross.
I almost wanted to be at work; I strongly desire a basement. I did wake up one time during my nap to go pee; while it seems simple… I am a frequent uriner (is that a word? Probably not, but I just made it up) and with my kidneys currently hating me, it seems they’ve been holding it hostage. I’m saying it, it’s great to have to pee!
I had a Scentsy box delivered sometime during my nap, so I was able to sort that out, and fill some fun envelopes with the current catalog, and the new Harvest flyer, to get in the mail to customers. And an order to mail out. I was back and lounging again.
I’m so glad that Ellen is back on, how I’ve missed it. I caught up on shows on my DVR, and made some dinner, and here I am. 10PM and I should be in bed. I’m headed there soon.
I wonder what life would be like if I worked 4 days a week… I had a bit of time this afternoon in my office, since the back pain was tame, and I kinda enjoyed it. I feel like I am productive when I have middle of the week non-weekend days off. I need to get into a rhythm; sometimes I come into my office to do one thing and three hours later, I have no clue what it was. Must utilize the planner a bit more.
Sunday I wasn’t feeling so hot, my lower back was really bothering me. I chalked it up to probably lifting something heavy on Saturday. By mid afternoon it dawned on me that it was more than likely my kidneys. My output wasn’t much. I was taking 500mg of Advil every 4 hours.
I didn’t sleep so great last night and work wasn’t any better. I was chugging water. I decided I needed to go to Urgent Care to see if it was kidney infection as I suspected.
Sure enough a fever of 101, and first urine dip shows infection but a culture can take a few days, got meds to be proactive. Let this be a reminder that if you have always taken cranberry pills and they run out during a rather hectic moment in life [loosing grandpa and moving] refill them. No need being miserable and they are cheap, and one more pill to take but it does wonders for me
Once I got home, made some dinner, watched a Scentsy training, prepped some catalogs. Now I’m lounging til I drift off to bed.
I have Scentsy orders to unpack and bag tomorrow. But I think I’m going to be doing a lot of reading. My patio furniture is at the place in CR, hoping Adam can help me get it. Then I’ll try to put it together and have some #BooksOnTheBalcony time this weekend.
I’ve missed this, writing and documenting my day. Some days might be further apart than others, but though college when I kept an online journal it was very good for me. I need to keep it up.
